When speaking of clocks, and time in general, one must come to terms with the utility of the modern evolution of how they have become perceived. With time, we seem to take the fact that it is merely a thought structure to induce a state perhaps relevant to over-awareness, and that obsessive time tracking can be a sign of mental illness. However, everyone does this to some extent through the watching of clock or watch on a fairly consistent basis, and there are many things that rely upon this necessary action in order to function more smoothly.

It may take awhile to wrap one’s mind around the esoteric idea of time as anything but a force of nature, but time is merely a conception of humanity whose need for more efficiency in the daily life of so many found it necessary to create a mechanical, now digital, device that keep up with this perceived passing of time. It is thus that clocks were born into this world, a world where time was not even considered as more than merely an archive from the past that kept building, and where that world ended was in the creation of an item that has aided so many in their lives that it would be unthinkable to go without them now.

It is difficult to perceive more beyond this mere conception, but nobody has really tried in more than a theoretical sense, as even that creates quite a stir amongst layman and intellectual alike. Anything beyond the comprehension of the given idea can be considered ridiculous by more than a few people, but it is the serious tone that this may take that has others bothered, fields like quantum physics and quantum mechanics try to explain this through the many differing hypotheses. Clocks, for now, are an ever-present facet to the way businesses are run to how long people are set to work in a day.
